John Weeks: The economic power of Wall St., if not restrained, will lead to political dictatorship

“Why are so many people protesting against Wall Street? Because it has become stronger than our democratic state and, if left unrestrained, will lead us down the dark road to political dictatorship to join the economic tyranny it currently enjoys.”

The whole thing is worth watching. Really interesting smart guy. Of all of it, one of the most important pieces is the fact that we don’t actually pay that much in taxes, comparative to the rest of the developed world. Paying less taxes is actually controlling us. Crazy considering the right are constantly arguing that this is the ultimate route to communism which could lead to the destruction of a participative system. Surprise! Other nations appear to have much more control over their “socialist” political bodies than we seem to over have our capitalist system, run by Oligarchs and Corporations.
